“Romance is the glamour which turns the dust of everyday life into a golden haze.” – Amanda Cross. How do you feel at the end of most days? Frisky, gorgeous, and sexy? If so, you are one fortunate woman. I have those kinds of evenings, but since having kids they seem to be just a bit less frequent (note sarcasm). Our lifestyles are so busy that by the nighttime, after kids are asleep and you’ve been catching up on work, laundry, or even just lying around watching TV, it can be hard to feel like a sex goddess.
In Dr. Jennifer Gill Rosier’s book, “Make Love, Not Scrapbooks,” she claims that the best way to get things started is to simply kiss. Kissing is one act that can get women in the right frame mind by making them feel loved and wanted, and it is touted as one of the most sensual things you can do.
In case you need a few more ideas, I’ve picked a handful of Dr. Rosier’s list of 16 ideas for how you can boost your sexual desire (if you want to read them all, you have to buy her book!):
Set the Mood: Take the folded laundry and toys off of your bed, light a few candles, ad make it look like a love palace! For me, a nice hot bath and something sexy to wear helps too.
Get Enough Sleep: I have been doing research on sleep deprivation for my new book (One Hot Mama: The Guide to Getting Your Mind and Body Back After Baby), and the list of impacts to your weight, health, and mental/emotional state is shocking. Get your 7.5 hours of sleep in, minimum, and you might find yourself feeling in the mood more often.
Exercise: Getting exercise makes you feel better about your body – hence, sexier!
Eat Healthier: Eating better will make you feel and look better, enough said.
Take Vitamins: Even when you are eating well, vitamins are useful for helping you obtain your optimal health. See a blog entry I wrote back in July to see what I recommend: http://www.herinspiredlife.com/blog/what-can-supplements-do-for-you/
Reduce Stress: Cut out the unnecessary activities and stressors in your life so you have more energy and sex drive!
Be Dangerous: Get dopamine and adrenaline flowing – it can help get you excited in other ways…
Talk Dirty: Guys love this, and if you need a little help getting started have a few glasses of wine!
Use Sex Toys: If you have one (and if you don’t, get one), let your partner try it out with you. Don’t forget that men are very visual, and will enjoy watching you, if you know what I mean.
Reconnect: Sometimes life is so hectic that before you can feel like hopping in bed and getting crazy together that you just need to sit down, talk, catch up, and reconnect. Feeling close and connected is one of the first steps to feeling amorous!
I wish you a spectacular weekend!
